The Story of Bébé Vaudou Shop
Hey, it’s me, Brooklynn!
I’m a creative, who’s journey spans multiple mediums. I’m a recording artist distributed under Revolt (440 Artists), where my music explores esoteric and metaphysical themes. As well as an indie filmmaker; who recently produced and edited a witch-themed short film and I’m currently developing Major Arcana, a mini-series where each episode is inspired by a tarot card.
My dedication to this intersection of art and magic even led to being named one of Teen Vogue's "Artists to Watch" — an interview I proudly attended wearing my pentacle necklace, staying true to my expression of self, despite industry pushback.
I am deeply embedded in the metaphysical community, serving as the host and producer of Witches of Atlanta & Mystical Minds.
In the worlds of art, music, and magic - they are not separate for me; they exist in perfect symbiosis.
Bébé Vaudou Shop was born out of a need for solidarity, expression, and real-world change.
During the protests for George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, I felt a profound need to make my stance clear. As a Black woman who has faced overt racism firsthand, the fight against systemic oppression is deeply personal to me. I wanted to ensure that ‘Witches of Atlanta’ stood firmly in alignment with the movement protecting people of color — so I created the "Witches Against White Supremacy" design.
I originally made it just for myself to just post online, but woke up the next day to find it had gone viral within the metaphysical and WitchTok communities. People wanted shirts, posters, and signs to take to protests. Shops began displaying the design to show solidarity.
But self-proclamation wasn't enough. I decided to pledge 100% of the proceeds from the shirts the first couple months to the nonprofit ‘Buy From a Black Woman’ — and in those months, we donated over $4,000 to the organization.
With viral attention came an ugly side: companies and individuals stole my copyrighted artwork and sold it on their own merchandise. As a one-woman shop, I didn't have the resources to fight every instance beyond cease-and-desist emails.
But the beautiful side far outweighed the bad. The visibility allowed me to pursue my passion for writing and to speak more broadly about the intersection of music and magic. I was honored to be invited onto Pam Grossman's The Witch Wave podcast — one of the top metaphysical podcasts in the world — to discuss the shop, my "sonic sorcery," and how music serves as a powerful spiritual modality that is rarely spoken about in the metaphysical community.
That conversation with Pam opened a door I never anticipated. Moved by the depth of the topic, Pam invited me to contribute a written excerpt on Sonic Sorcery to the book she was co-authoring as part of Taschen's Esoterica series — Volume III: Witchcraft. Being a published contributor in one of the world's most prestigious art and culture publishing houses is something I hold close to my heart, and it is a testament to the power of staying true to your path.
I am currently working on my own self-authored book dedicated entirely to Sonic Sorcery — a deep dive into the relationship between sound, magic, and spiritual transformation. Stay tuned.
The growth of the shop allowed me to bring my dream of a handmade, ethical metaphysical store to life.
I began crafting incense as a form of meditation, much like my music. I was motivated by the knowledge that many mass-manufactured incenses contain harsh chemicals. I wanted to create blends where I knew exactly what was in them — ethically sourced, plant-based, and safe to burn in my own home and rituals. I even named several blends after my songs, such as Work Your Magic, weaving sonic sorcery into every physical item I create.
To know that I can share these handcrafted tools with you is the true magic of this journey. That is why Bébé Vaudou Shop exists.
